Edward "Untz" Brooke Brewer (1894–1970) was an American athlete. Brewer played two seasons of professional football with the Cleveland Indians and the Akron Pros in the National Football League (NFL). He was considered one of the best high school quarterbacks in the country and played college football at Maryland State College. Brewer was also an accomplished track and field athlete.
==Early life==
Brewer was born on November 21, 1894 in Washington D.C. He attended the St. Albans School, where he played baseball and football and competed in track and field.〔(ROBERTSON'S JOB AT PENN; Quakers' New Trainer Will Have Little Material at Outset ), ''The New York Times'', July 7, 1916.〕 Brewer beat Olympian Howard Drew in the 50-yard dash, and was considered one of the finest athletes in the nation. ''The New York Times'' also called him one of the best quarterbacks in the South.〔 He originally intended to go to the University of Pennsylvania,〔(PENN TO GET TWO STARS.; Athletes Frank Sloman and Brooke Brewer to Enter University ), ''The New York Times'', April 11, 1916.〕 but instead attended Maryland State College, which is now known as the University of Maryland.〔
